Bring Our Families Home (BOFH) is a campaign comprised entirely of the families of Americans held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas.

Our message is simple: We urge President Biden to meet with us and urgently use all available tools to #BringThemHome.

March 9, 2024 is the inaugural National Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day.

Order a flag today at the link below.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) signed by President Biden at the end of 2023 established March 9 as the annual National Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day.

The flag above is codified in the NDAA as a symbol for this day, and will be flown on federal buildings. The tally marks symbolize the days, weeks, months, years, and even decades that our loved ones have unjustly suffered in the hands of foreign countries or groups, reminding the government and the public of the need to #BringThemHome before it’s too late.

You can place orders for the flag in various sizes here.

The flag is not owned by anyone or any specific organization. It is meant to be used by any person or organization that wants to stand in solidarity with this cause and help raise awareness. The flag vendor linked above is not affiliated in any way with the BOFH campaign; the campaign does not earn any of the proceeds from sales of the flag.

Mural in Houston

On July 4, 2023, we unveiled a wheat paste mural in Houston, TX to remind the public about the 15 Americans in our campaign who have been wrongfully deprived of their freedom, in honor of Independence Day. 7 of them are from Texas.

The unveiling was attended by numerous former detainees as well as Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and Rep. Al Green, who were featured as keynote speakers.

Hostage Week 2023

We gathered in Washington, DC on May 2 and May 3, 2023 to mark one year since our campaign launch in Lafayette Park, coinciding with “Hostage Week.”

The video to the left shows various images from a candlelight vigil at our mural in Georgetown and a press conference in front of the White House.

Mural in Georgetown

In July 2022, we unveiled a public wheat paste mural in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. showcasing the faces of 18 American hostages and wrongful detainees held abroad. The mural was designed and installed by Iowan artist Isaac Campbell to bring awareness and public recognition to the plight of these detainees and increase bipartisan support to bring them home.

The Bring Our Families Home Campaign is a coalition of families, not a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The Campaign is grateful to be fiscally sponsored by the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation.
